It's no secret that Lola & Lamar is inspired by the 1980's and 1990's. With Summer right around the corner, we're taking a look at this iconic era.

The 80's had an awesome sexuality to it - women were becoming forward, taking charge and pushing against glass ceilings. With all the new ambition came a bold new bathing suit. Bikini lines became higher, highlighting the hips and elongating the legs, sporty styles came into vogue (the free-the-hips high cut one piece was probably the sexiest suit you could rock), as well as smaller bikini bottoms that flaunted cheeks more than ever. Women in the 80's had confidence in themselves, their sexuality and their charisma.

Women's independence continued to grow in the 90's, and swimsuits were cut into two camps; the ostentatiously glamorous and the clean, minimalist. Overall, the cuts were risque, cleavage was emphasised, and print and colours reflected the personality of the women wearing them.
